Systems Engineer - West Coast - Bay Area

Information:
MRV Communications, Inc., seeks a Systems Engineer in the Bay areaarea to become part of our team. This position supports the North American customer base and Sales team. The focus of this position is centered on MRV's OptiSwitch Carrier Ethernet product family. Projects may also involve MRV's Lambda Driver and Fiber Driver optical networking products. The position includes both a base salary and a sales quota variable compensation package.

Responsibilities include:

  • Be the technical product resource for customers, Sales Engineers and the Account Manager;
  • Perform on-site or on-line product demonstrations;
  • Coordinate, develop and execute test plans and test cases based on the customer's network;
  • Manager customer requests for product feature development;
  • Review customer proposals/RFIs/RFPs for technical accuracy;
  • Develop and deliver customer configuration documents and provisioning templates;
  • Provide test and turn up services through customer acceptance;
  • Provide a complete set of documentation to TAC for proper customer support;
  • Work closely with the Sales Engineer and the Sales Manager to complete the sales cycle;

Requirements:
  • Self-motivated attitude with the ability to take on projects and drive to completion;
  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical/electronic engineering or computer engineer or equivalent year of work experience;
  • 5+ years of working experience in IP networking;

      Service Call Administrator

      We have an opening for a Service Call Administrator in our dynamic, team oriented, Customer Support organization, which is currently located in our Littleton, MA office. Effective in March, 2010, the office will be relocating to Chelmsford, MA.

      Description:As a key member of Customer Support, the Service Call Administrator acts as the primary interface to customers, field and home office personnel utilizing excellent communication and administrative skills and is responsible for coordinating a variety of telephone dispatching functions, service administrative control procedures and support activities that consistently provide customer satisfaction and convey a professional company image.

      Responsibilities:

      • Receives, logs and monitors all customer calls; determines customer call urgency and efficiently routes calls to the proper C/S authority, individual or MRV Communications department;
      • Determines the appropriate level of equipment and site maintenance coverage according to prevailing policy guidelines and standard operating procedures;
      • Maintains knowledgeable communication with field and home office management to quickly and efficiently resolve logistics problems or administrative tracking of service incidents;
      • Coordinates and expedites the delivery of replacement hardware equipment, material orders and special order requests (hardware, software and optional product feature password keys);
      • Provides information to customers, and field and home office personnel through the utilization of available Customer Service Management System (CMS) applications (Minx and Clarify);
      • Maintains and updates management information systems and customer data bases, utilizing standardized CMS procedures;
      • Maintains/accesses customer filing system, researches information on new or existing customers to fulfill data base requirements: equipment warranties, contracts, billing, entitlements, etc. through the use of Service Management applications (MRV Communications Management Information Systems);
      • Contacts customers to obtain required data base information or logistics hardware material tracking.

      Requirements: Job skills required for task performance include, but are not limited to:
      • Ability to satisfy rapidly changing business demands and prioritize accordingly;
      • Ability to successfully interact with customers, resellers, field and home office personnel and maintain consistent professionalism, tact and accurate judgment;
      • Experience with Service Management application is a must; experience with Clarify Service Management System is highly desirable;
      • Experience with Inventory Control Systems; Minx/Lynx and other Informix data entry and recall applications highly desirable;
      • Experience using Microsoft Office applications;
      • Experience processing Return Material Authorizations (RMA?s) in a Call/Logistics environment is highly desired.
