CHATSWORTH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 19, 2007--MRV Communications (Nasdaq:MRVC), a leading provider of products and services for WDM and optical transport, metro Ethernet, fiber optic components, 10GE, out-of-band networking and other service aware networking products, today announced its LambdaDriver(R) wave division multiplexing (WDM) systems have been verified by Brocade Communications Systems Inc. for compatibility with Brocade-based Storage Area Networking (SAN) infrastructure, according to the testing requirements of the Brocade Data Center Ready Program.
The program is an initiative designed to foster SAN interoperability in multi-vendor Brocade-based SAN environments. Testing was conducted at the Brocade Data Center Ready labs, which are state-of-the-art facilities supporting end-to-end interoperability and performance testing of SAN products in multi-vendor and large fabric SAN environments. The Brocade Data Center Ready Program boasts an impressive collection of equipment manufacturers since its launch in 2000.
"Storage is increasingly important in backbone network designs, and the LambdaDriver WDM system allows network administrators to build an enterprise backbone network that supports full-speed 4 Gbps Fibre Channel networks alongside their other enterprise protocols," said Noam Lotan, president and CEO of MRV Communications. "Interoperability with Brocade's SAN solutions means our joint customers get seamless solutions for campus area SAN connectivity at full data rates."
LambdaDriver optical transport solutions consist of multi-functional, compact and modular wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems that can create up to 80 independent virtual fiber-optic links on a single pair of fibers over distances of up to 900 km. The LambdaDriver family supports both DWDM and CWDM technology, and can handle data streams with rates from eight Mbps up to 10 Gbps, including 4 Gbps Fibre Channel for storage applications. The LambdaDriver systems are specifically designed for organizations that require flexible, compact and cost-effective multiplexing and transport of high-speed network, storage, voice, and video data.
"We are pleased that MRV has successfully completed the Data Center Ready testing with Brocade fabric switches in multi-vendor SAN environments," said Tom Buiocchi, Brocade Vice President of Worldwide Marketing and Support. "Storage area networks are being deployed worldwide at a rapid rate as a scalable, high performance networking foundation for storage environments. The Data Center Ready program is an example of our continued commitment to our SAN customers."
About MRV's LambdaDriver Platforms
MRV's LambdaDriver platform provides one of the most flexible WDM networking solutions for both enterprises and service providers looking to maximize their existing fiber infrastructure. Three active chassis (LD400, LD800 and LD1600) and two passive chassis (LDP100 and LDP300) with interchangeable modules provide a solution for any network size and service density. Transparent transport allows support for all high-speed LAN, WAN or SAN services. Sub-rate TDM technology allows even more efficient use of the available fiber by aggregating low rate protocols over one wavelength. The LambdaDriver platforms support both CWDM and DWDM technologies, thus enabling a cost efficient initial investment in infrastructure with CWDM and a smooth upgrade path towards full capacity DWDM networks. LambdaDriver(R) platforms are NEBS certified. For more information, please visit http://www.mrv.com/wdm/prod_ld.php.
About the Brocade Data Center Ready Program
The Brocade Data Center Ready program is a comprehensive testing and configuration initiative designed to foster end-to-end SAN interoperability. As part of the program, testing is conducted in SAN configurations that comprise a heterogeneous mix of servers, storage subsystems, Brocade fabric switches, SAN management and enterprise applications, and other SAN technologies. Brocade has created a dedicated lab with heterogeneous SAN fabrics, in which the company tests and validates partner equipment in specific configurations. Vendors receive Brocade Data Center Ready Certification after successfully completing tests to confirm that vendors' products meet compatibility guidelines.
