LuminentOIC announces SONET/SDH Compliant Bi-Directional SFP transceivers

March 28, 2007, Chatsworth, CA and Hsin-Chu, Taiwan, - LuminentOIC, a leading supplier of access and metro transceivers, CWDM & DWDM solutions, and Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP) solutions, has extended its line of single-fiber bi-directional SFP Transceivers to include SONET/SDH data rates from 155Mb/s to 2.5Gb/s.
?Single fiber solutions enable carriers and providers to reduce cost through more efficient utilization of resources in their fiber plant?, said Jian Wang, Product Line Manager at LuminentOIC. ?Having shipped Ethernet-based single-fiber transceivers in volume for several years, we are now responding to an emerging demand for SONET compliant interfaces, including demand from several key Tier-1 system vendors with whom we are actively working.?
In addition to the newly-introduced SONET/SDH single-fiber transceivers, the product line includes bi-directional SFP transceivers for Fast Ethernet (125Mb/s) and Gigabit Ethernet (1.25Gb/s) applications, ranging from IEEE 802.3 BX10 interfaces for 10-km links, to 20km, 40km, and 80km reach versions. In addition to the standards-defined wavelength combinations, LuminentOIC leverages the internally sourced laser and optical subassembly capability to offer customized combinations to accommodate system specific wavelength allocations and constraints.
The bi-directional SFP transceivers are available in both SC and LC receptacle versions. They are fully compliant with the SFP Multi Source Agreement, and applicable Telcordia/ITU-T standards for SONET/SDH interfaces. Current offerings include Intermediate Reach (15km) and Long Reach (40km) distances, all available in temperature-hardened versions. The single-fiber SONET/SDH products are available for samples now, with volume production starting in April 2007.
