NEW LAMBDADRIVER FAMILY MEMBERS TM-D4GSFP and TM2-SFP4G TRANSPONDERS OFFER DISTANCE EXTENSION AND WDM AGGREGATION FOR 4G FIBER CHANNEL

CHATSWORTH, CA ? May 1, 2007 ? MRV COMMUNICATIONS, INC. (Nasdaq: MRVC), a leading provider of products and services for out-of-band networking, WDM and optical transport, metro Ethernet, fiber optic components, 10G and other service aware networking products, today announced the addition of new transparent transponders for the LambdaDriver? family of wave-division multiplexing (WDM) systems, which provide 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel data transport for storage area networks (SAN).

The TM-D4GSFP is a DWDM transponder that supports distances up to 100 kilometers over G652 compatible fiber-optic cable without power or dispersion compensation. The TM2-SFP4G is a dual circuit, SFP-based transponder, similar to MRV?s 2.7-Gbps TM2-SFP transponder. The use of SFPs for both access and WDM results in a high level of flexibility and lower maintenance costs. The maximum distance possible with existing WDM SFP solutions over G652 fiber is 70km. The hot-swappable MRV SFPs are available as either CWDM or DWDM modules.

With the TM-D4GSFP and TM2-SFP4G, system architects have the ability to use the LambdaDriver platform to support Gigabit, 2-Gigabit and 4.25-Gigabit Fibre Channel in a single chassis for simplified backbone network scaling, resulting in CAPEX and OPEX savings. Other Fibre Channel protocols can also be transported using these new modules. Manageable by MRV?s Megavision Pro? Management System, these transponders support functions like rate selection and loopback set-ups as well as power monitoring of the optical ports. These transponders can be used with amplifiers and DCMs for networks needing transmission distances longer than 100 km.

Featuring full 3R support, these transponders offer both remote and local loop-back functionality. Full power monitoring, SFP digital diagnostics and link integrity notification (LIN) all come standard. The new modules can be used throughout the LambdaDriver family, including the five-slot LD400, 11-slot LD800 and 16-slot LD1600 chassis, and with the LambdaDriver management module using MRV?s Megavision Pro? Management System, the transponders can be monitored and controlled via SNMP.

?The market is moving at a rapid pace toward increased storage bandwidth and our new 4-Gigabit transponders are a perfect way to get the maximum flexibility and performance while lowering the cost of long-distance Fibre Channel extension networks,? said Noam Lotan, President and CEO of MRV Communications. ?These new transponders expand the versatility of the LambdaDriver family, making it the ideal solution both for enterprises with Fibre Channel SANs and telecommunications carriers that need to offer Fibre Channel transport-capable infrastructures for their enterprise customers.?

About MRV'S LambdaDriver Platforms

MRV's LambdaDriver platform provides one of the most flexible WDM networking solutions for both enterprises and service providers looking to maximize their existing fiber infrastructure. Three different active chassis (LD400, LD800 and LD1600) and two passive chassis (LPD100 and LDP300) with interchangeable modules provide a solution for any network size and service density. Transparent transport allows support for all high-speed LAN, WAN or SAN services. Sub-rate TDM technology allows even more efficient use of the available fiber by aggregating low rate protocols over one wavelength. The LambdaDriver platforms support both CWDM and DWDM technologies, thus enabling a cost efficient initial investment in infrastructure with CWDM and a smooth upgrade path towards full capacity DWDM networks. LambdaDriver? platforms are NEBS certified. For more information, please visit http://www.mrv.com/wdm/prod_ld.php.
