MRV Optiswitch To Participate In Interoperability Testing At Carrier Ethernet World Congress
September 21st, 2009
Company Executive to Speak at Event on Timing Synchronization, OAM
and Last Mile Ethernet Solutions
CHATSWORTH, CA – Sept. 21, 2009 – MRV COMMUNICATIONS, INC., today announced that its OptiSwitch 900 and OptiSwitch 9000 carrier-class Ethernet product lines will participate as part of the European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC) mobile backhaul interoperability demo at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress. MRV is a leading networking company with a full line of packet-optical transport (POTS), carrier Ethernet, 40G networking and out-of-band networking products.
Carrier Ethernet World Congress will be held Sept. 21-24, 2009 at the Maritim ProArte Hotel in Berlin, Germany. With more than 500 senior decision makers scheduled to attend, the event is an important forum for the Ethernet networking and services industry. MRV will be exhibiting in booth #27.
The EANTC multi-vendor interoperability demonstration will highlight end-to-end mobile backhaul and enterprise managed services. As part of MRV’s participation in this event, the company will demonstrate its mobile backhaul enhancements with the ability to provide synchronization to base stations through ITU-T Synchronous Ethernet and IEEE1588v2 Precision Time Protocol, which can be used to synchronize the packet-based network. In addition, MRV will demonstrate its circuit emulation services in the radio access network and Ethernet operations, administration and management (OAM) tools to maintain and measure SLAs.
MRV will also demonstrate the MEF standards-based carrier Ethernet features of its OptiSwitch OS904-DSL that enable mobile operators to differentiate their services portfolio with advanced service level agreements (SLA).
"This interoperability demonstration is an important step toward widespread adoption of carrier Ethernet for mobile backhaul and specifically for timing synchronization that sets a critical point for transition to all packet-based radio access network,” said Noam Lotan, chief executive officer of MRV Communications. "Our OptiSwitch line is designed with the rich feature set that can work cross functionally with other equipment to bring carrier-grade services to the demarcation and aggregation points of any type of legacy mobile network and all the way to forward looking implementations of 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network."
Also at the event, Vice President and Product Line Manager for MRV International, Zeev Draer will participate in three speaking engagements. On Sept. 23, he will lead a Technology Partner Visions discussion on maintaining synchronization in the evolving mobile backhaul architecture, and will also head a panel entitled “Implementing Ethernet OAM and QoS Mechanisms to Support All-Packet Mobile.” On Sept. 24, Draer will give a presentation on behalf of the Metro Ethernet Forum providing an update on the options for last miles solutions for Ethernet.
