Pro-Vision Software v 1.7 Simplifies Ethernet Services Provisioning
and Offers End-to-End Service Visibility
CHATSWORTH, CA - August 16, 2010 - MRV COMMUNICATIONS, INC., today announced the availability of its Pro-Vision® software version 1.7. The updated software enhances an operator's ability to provision Ethernet services by improving performance monitoring and adding device auto discovery capabilities to MRV's OptiSwitch® Carrier Ethernet access product portfolio. MRV is a leading provider of optical communication and IT infrastructure management solutions to service providers and enterprises around the world.
Pro-Vision is MRV's carrier-class service provisioning and management platform that offers service providers a wide range of applications and tools to fully manage and control large-scale Carrier Ethernet networks. The GUI-based software platform allows service provisioning, monitoring and troubleshooting tasks to be performed from an easy-to-use, central network management application. Pro-Vision complements MRV's industry leading OptiSwitch 9124-410G Carrier Ethernet packet-optical aggregation platform and OptiSwitch 900 series of service demarcation devices.
The software provides the ability to pre-define individual service profile components that can be used to easily build new service offerings and reduce time to revenue. Pro-Vision supports a northbound interface for interconnection with service provider and equipment vendor operations support system (OSS) systems.
"The updated Pro-Vision software enables service providers to handle everyday network management and service provisioning routines more easily, cost-efficiently and flexibly," said Mary Jane Gruninger, optical communications systems president at MRV. "Service provisioning is faster and easier and offers rapid service delivery combined with end-to-end service visibility. The enhanced functionality strengthens Pro-Vision's positioning as a best-in-class Carrier Ethernet service provisioning and management platform."
The Pro-Vision software enhancements extend the support for Ethernet service (E-LAN and EV-LAN) performance monitoring allowing any-to-any service level agreement (SLA) validation and test measurements. Pro-Vision's enhanced functionality adds support for RFC2544 on Ethernet services and class of service (CoS)-based flows, enabling best-in-class testing of throughput, latency and jitter through an integrated hardware-based throughput tester and traffic generator combined with point and click configuration and activation.
The advanced capabilities are in addition to the existing Pro-Vision state-of-the-art feature set that includes rapid service creation, powerful performance monitoring and network health checking, including real-time reporting on various service and network performance metrics, port and Ethernet virtual circuit (EVC) utilization, transmission errors and quality of service (QoS) thresholds with historical reporting that can be exported. Pro-Vision also includes per-service and end-to-end fault detection tools, multi-user security levels, site-wide maintenance and carrier-class scalability and high-availability.
Pro-Vision v1.7 is now available from MRV's worldwide sales team.
