Out-of-Band Networking
LX Series Product Family
Secure Console Servers, Intelligent Power Management, Sensor Networking
MRV’s Out-of-Band Networking product family is designed for organizations who prioritize business continuity. By extending service port access, power management and sensor networking capabilities over IP networks, MRV provides access and control from virtually anywhere. Typical applications include data center or remote site automation, and Lights Out management. Unlike other console or terminal servers, the LX Series provides powerful automation tools and integrated management capabilities.
Secure Console Servers The LX Series family of products provides ironclad service port access to server and network device serial consoles, enabling real-time monitoring of remote system, device and network health. All LX Series models support the same industry leading LX Series software features, providing flexibility, reliability and security. The LX 4000T Series offers from 8 to 48 ports, redundant power, and dual Ethernet connections, and is widely used by large and small enterprises. The LX 1000 Series, offering up to 4 ports, is often used in large geographically distributed networks.
Power Management The LX Series can be combined with MRV’s 5250 Power Control Series and 4800 Power Control Series to provide a single management solution to control and monitor the power of servers and other network equipment. Administrators have the ability to power-cycle a locked up server, or bring a redundant system online. LX Series tools allow a wide range of unique automation capabilities to reduce operating costs and increase service levels.
Sensor Networking Increasingly, IT managers are responsible for power costs and environmental monitoring. The LX Series supports environmental, security and physical infrastructure monitoring, including temperature, humidity, flooding, power, fire. Organizations can flexibly tune responses including turning on lights, supplementary air-conditioning or video security systems, sounding alarms or notifying emergency personnel. Data can be fed back to centralized operations quickly, easily and economically. For high-density alarming applications, the 7304 Sensor Manager can support additional applications.
Management Options While most MRV Out-of-Band Networking customers use the direct management capabilities of the LX Series, MRV’s Megavision also offers a SNMP based management platform for extended fault management capabilities for MRV’s Out-of-Band Networking products.
