Pro-Vision® Service Management Solution
Service providers are increasingly challenged with rapidly scaling networks, evolving complex services, and increasing demand for bandwidth and data services. This growth is continuously driven by the explosion of network traffic from cloud computing, data center services, business services, wholesale exchanges, mobile backhaul expansion, on-demand video, IPTV, and residential broadband service. All of these applications demand shorter time-to-market for new services, end-to-end service performance monitoring, and a more cost-effective, scalable, and resilient infrastructure for data and voice services.
MRV’s Pro-Vision® is a powerful and intelligent service management solution for rapid deployment of next generation Carrier-Ethernet and optical transport services. Pro-Vision® brings network management to the next level by providing a comprehensive suite of graphical service delivery functions including service creation, service assurance, and service maintenance. It effectively manages MRV’s powerful OptiSwitch® family of Carrier Ethernet products and optical transport LamdaDriver and Fiber Driver™ elements.
Pro-Vision® provides sophisticated management tools that streamline the overall operational efficiencies in managing small to large and complex network services resulting in OPEX savings, lower CAPEX, and reduced total cost of ownership (TCO) for service providers. It reduces the operational errors, increases the productivity, monitors all traffic, and maintains healthy and secure networks. The Pro-Vision® management application leverages the power of its integrated and highly scalable platform to enable management across various elements and applications. Service providers choose Pro-Vision® to meet today’s challenges, to provide superior customer service through effective operations, and to deploy a future-ready platform to sustain a profitable business.
Features
- Single Screen Service Creation
provides simplified provisioning of Carrier Ethernet services (E-Line/ELAN). Creation of a service uses a very easy point-and-click GUI operation from a single screen, allowing users to define a service, create a customer, add end points, and select the profiles within the specified SLA. Predefined service profiles streamline the overall efficiency of service creation, which is more efficient and quicker. - Best-in-Class Performance Monitoring and Data Collection
provides rich graphical and tabular form data collection and presentation for both real-time and historical views of service OAM performance test results. It provides a highly flexible data collection mechanism, a real-time polling module that supports highly granular performance data collection from large-scale installations with numerous devices. It can also set thresholds and generate user-defined alarms. The performance monitoring provides end-to-end visibility into how a service is performing, and it assures that performance levels are being met for the customer service level agreements (SLAs) as well as providing a powerful tool for planning and network capacity utilization. - Plug-and-Play Zero Touch
provisioning speeds up the service turn-up process. It provides startup configuration, validation, and automatic download of up-to-date software versions, device configurations, and database synchronization. Offline service provisioning supports adding devices and service provisioning in offline mode. Preparing the device database in advance saves on installation time and costs in provisioning services that rely on physical hardware. - Self-Service Customer Portal
allows monitoring of service performance and multiple devices from the web. The Pro-Vision® customer self-service portal provides complete visibility to customer-specific SLA performance data through interactive and dynamic real-time dashboards. Customers can view service performance on their own at any time from anywhere on the web. The Pro-vision web portal improves your customer satisfaction and differentiates customer branded experience. - Integrated Transport Network Management
uses the common Pro-Vision® management framework to discover and manage Lambda Driver and Fiber Driver™ WDM/DWDM modules including the platform chassis, power supply, amplifiers, transponders, optical transport network (OTN) modules and reconfigurable add/drop multiplexers (ROADM). The integrated transport manager provides device menus for device, slot, and port details, front panel views, and digital diagnostics. - Open Management Access
allows easy integration with the operator's OSS/BSS systems. Pro-Vision®’s northbound interface API is based on web services SOAP/XML standards and SNMP interface. The interface allows retrieval and management of fault, configuration, and performance data. Integration of Pro-Vision® with northbound IBM NetCool streamlines alerts and event management. - Display large number of devices with regional maps
based on geographic or regional settings. With large networks, devices can be organized into submaps representing different locations. Maps can truly model deployed OS switches by regions. The regional maps are completely customizable and configurable in a hierarchical tree structure. - Future Proof Core Management Framework
provides powerful platform capabilities for Carrier class scalability, reliability, and high availability options. It enables provisioning, device discovery, inventory listing, full FCAPS (fault alarms and traps, and event management for quick troubleshooting), configuration management, accounting statistics collection and device polling, service performance, and multi-level security management. - Proactive Fault Management
provides per-service and end-to-end fault detection tools allowing service providers to identify faults before an SLA is violated. It offers comprehensive event and trap processing including flexible user-defined filtering, suppression, and propagation with intelligent correlation and historical views. Alarm drill down can be categorized, for example by severity, managed resource type, or time of day. Alarm status is color-coded for instant visual identification in a graphical format. - Advanced Security
improves confidence in your network. Carrier networks often are managed by a number of different organizations, each with varying levels of access and control. Pro-Vision® provides flexible multi-user security levels that allow the administrator to control specific operations, views, maps, audit trails, and logs that can be accessed by individual users. These security levels reduce the risk of unauthorized access and misconfiguration. - Site Maintenance
provides the ability to upgrade configurations and software remotely on a scheduled basis across multiple devices simultaneously. It allows scheduling for periodic backups and file transfers. Batch upgrades support upgrading devices based on a region ID. Backup and restore configuration, upload/download, and database synchronization offer efficient operations and remote site maintenance. In addition, automatic device turn-up process and zero-touch configuration provide significant operator benefits and reduce the overall OPEX and customer satisfaction. - Carrier Class Scalability and Availability
increases application options. The flexible and modular design of the Pro-Vision® platform allows scaling of small networks with few devices to very large networks with many devices. Its client-server architecture allows future growth. It supports distributed multi-tier architecture of redundant front-end servers and back end database servers.
