The MR2408 is an 8-port 10GE Layer 2-4 concentrator switch, with a footprint of only 1RU, with advanced QoS and enhanced security. It supports XFP-based pluggable optics in a range of SX, MMX, LR and IR2. The MR2408 comes with an extremely powerful engine that supports a switching performance of 160 Gbps. Included in the MR2408 is a 10/100 management port that can be used for out-of-band network management.

The MR2408 completes MRV's 10GE modular networking solution. The MR 10GE systems, only 1RU high, feature the layer 3 MR3325-S4C and MR3349-S4C and the layer 2/4 aggregator MR2408, thus delivering interface flexibility, wire-speed performance, superior port density, and a complete standard-based, "grow with you" solution to address high performance switching and routing requirements at an affordable price for both enterprises and service providers. By offering a modular networking architecture for multimedia aware networking, the MR family is an excellent choice to deliver Gigabit, with a 10GE uplink inside the wiring closet or server farm, and 10GE within the backbone for different multimedia services such as: IP telephony, IP storage, video conferencing, security and surveillance among others.
