MRV provides several families of Ethernet Access products, including a variety of fiber optic and copper technologies in both our Fiber Driver®, OptiSwitch® and OptiSwitch Master® product lines. We provide solutions for Ethernet Service Demarcation, Ethernet Aggregation, and Ethernet/IP/MPLS Service Creation.
Ethernet Service Demarcation
Optical Termination Units (OTU) / CPE Equipment
MRV provides an industry leading solution for Ethernet service demarcation. We provide a wide range of equipment,
including single service, multi service, and advanced service demarcation systems:
- Single Service Demarcation — this equipment allows carriers to provide a single service (Ethernet data) to their customers. The equipment is fully managed from the central office, and provides many features to make it easier and faster to deploy Ethernet services, and less costly to maintain as well.
The Fiber Driver modular, managed optical transport system includes a series of modules for managed Ethernet Service Demarcation, both the head-end and the CPE side. These modules are managed using a variety of protocols, and support the technical specifications of the draft 802.3ah standard for Ethernet in the First Mile.
- Multi Service Demarcation — this equipment allows carriers to provide multiple services (Ethernet data, voice, etc.) to one or many customers at a particular location.
Ethernet over VDSL (Very high bit rate Digital Subscriber Line access over telephone wires) or EoV technology enables the creation of high-speed links of up to 15 Mbps full duplex, over standard telephone lines. The Ethernet over VDSL product line is delivering standard Ethernet traffic over VDSL transport, which reaches distances of up to 1500 m, in parallel to the POTS or ISDN service.
The OptiSwitch family provides small chassis (2-slot and 4-slot) for multi-service demarcation. These products can be used to supply T1 or E1 voice together with Ethernet data services to one or more customers. The OptiSwitch provides a wide range of flexible modules for Ethernet, VDSL, T1/E1, and more, and these same modules also fit into the OptiSwitch Aggregation platform (see below), to maximize the value of your investment.
- Advanced Service Demarcation — this equipment allows carriers to provide advanced services to their customers, including Routing, NAT, IP-VPNs, and many other types of Ethernet and IP services.
The OSM105 is a small footprint carrier class Optical Termination Unit (OTU) for Ethernet/IP networks that provides the flexible and secure connectivity that is so important to carrier class Ethernet broadband providers. The OSM105 supports a variety of broadband WAN interfaces, including 100Base-FX Fiber (single fiber, singlemode as well as multimode) and 10/100Base-TX Copper.
Ethernet Aggregation Equipment
- OptiSwitch Telco:
The OptiSwitch Telco chassis are designed as high-end switching platforms for data-communications and telecommunications applications. Together with the full range of QoS and rate limiting capabilities, an array of optical interfaces, copper, VDSL and E1/T1 options coupled with full management and security options, these systems provide the ideal solution for deployment of access solutions in street cabinets or in the central office especially where utilizing minimal rack space is critical.
Ethernet/IP/MPLS Service Creation Platforms
- OptiSwitch Master:
The OptiSwitch Master® series (OSM) is an IP/MPLS high-performance router for carriers, ISPs and data service providers, designed as an intelligent Edge system between the Access and the Metro networks. The systems are engineered to serve as subscriber edge routers that connect all IP, L2 and MPLS subscribers to the services and take part in the Internet Ethernet IP backbone.
