MRV eWDM® Solution
|
MRV’s FiberDriver and FiberDriver-LD line of WDM products offer a complete
solution to meet any WDM requirements, either to increase bandwidth or to
offer wavelength services. MRV offers a broad range of capacities, distances,
and form-factors so that any type of WDM network can be deployed. Both Coarse
(CWDM) and Dense (DWDM) products are available, ranging from T1/E1 to OC-48
protocol speeds, including all forms of Ethernet.
There are two basic categories of WDM products, fixed-form and modular. Fixed-form
products are designed to offer several streams of data over a point-to-point
fiber-optic link. Modular products are designed to generate any required
configuration of protocols or services.
MRV also offers the unique ‘Colored GBIC’ and ‘OADM Cable’ CWDM system, which
provides a full WDM solution that plugs into existing switches or routers,
without requiring any additional WDM system.
Fixed-Form
WDM Products
The FiberDriver WDM series of fixed-form CWDM products provide connections
of multiple streams of Gigabit Ethernet, FiberChannel, ESCON, and other protocols
over a single fiber pair. Many options are available, including long distance
single-mode and Extended Multimode (see GMX technology). Products ranging
from two data streams to eight data streams are available, depending on the
requirements.
Modular
CWDM/DWDM Products
The FiberDriver LD series consists of multi-functional, compact modular Wavelength
Division Multiplexing (WDM) systems that can create up to 64 independent
virtual fiber optic links over a single pair of fibers over distance of up
to 100 km. The LD400, LD800 and LD1600 systems are targeted for Carriers’ Central
Offices or multi-tenant office buildings and are ideally suited for MAN networks
as well as large enterprise and Access networks. The product supports different
network topologies such as PTP, Linear OADM and Ring. The FiberDriver LD
family operates in a DWDM (ITU Grid channels spacing) and CWDM (20nm channels
spacing) technology. Each data stream can handle rates from 10 Mbps up to
2.5 Gbps. The systems support future upgrade to 10 Gbps services. It also
supports ESCON multiplexer modules for multiple ESCON streams on the same wavelength.
Fiber Driver CWDM Modules
The Fiber Driver Modular Managed Transport system includes many modules for use in CWDM applications, including Add-Drop Multiplexers, and also specific 1310/1550 combiner modules.
Colored GBIC and OADM Cables
MRV’s unique “Colored GBICs” and “OADM Cables” solution brings an unrivaled
simplicity to the WDM world. A colored GBIC is an optical plug-in module
for switches and routers that generates optical signal at a particular WDM
wavelength (ordered by wavelength number). This product eliminates the need
for a separate transponder module by providing the data in an already acceptable
form for WDM systems to passively multiplex. The OADM (Optical Add-Drop Multiplexer)
Cable takes this concept one step further. Instead of requiring a whole WDM
system, MRV provides a simple optical patch cable that operates as a single
channel add-drop multiplexer. When combined with the Colored GBICs, this
allows a WDM network to be created directly with existing switches or routers,
without the need for any other WDM-specific systems.
