MRV is the leader in Free-Space Optics through its TereScope product line. Free-Space Optics (also known as FSO, or Optical Wireless) is an optical data, voice and video transmission system. Like fiber optic cable, FSO communications systems use laser light to transmit a digital signal between two transceivers. However, unlike fiber, the laser light is transmitted through the air (free-space) instead of through a glass strand. In order for the digital signal to be transmitted and received, there must be clear line of site between each FSO unit. In other words, there should be no obstructions such as trees or buildings between the transceiver units.
The TereScope family of Free-Space Optics (FSO) products provides low-cost, high-speed wireless connectivity for a variety of last-mile applications. Whether you need narrowband voice or broadband data, MRVs products provide scalable, wireless alternatives to leased lines. Operating at data rates of 1.5 Mbps to Gigabit speeds, TereScope systems are deployable in one day, without requiring right-of-way or government permits for installation, providing you with communication links in hours instead of weeks or months. Whether you are a Service Provider or an Enterprise customer, the TereScope family of products can provide you with the data rate, performance and reliability that you need in a communications network.
Backed by over twenty years of research and development in the field of Free Space Optics, MRV is the market leader in FSO technology. We have over 5000 links deployed world wide giving us more experience selling, installing and servicing this equipment than any other FSO vendor. In addition to incorporating all of the FSO advantages, our TereScopes offer unique and patented features including:
- Multiple Transmitters to reduce scintillation
- A look-back camera to ensure accurate alignment
- An RF backup system for a number of the TereScopes products, offering carrier-class availability (99.999%) in all types of weather, including heavy fog and rain
- Management by MegaVisionTM, our SNMP manager, or any commercially available SNMP browser
