Today, many of these facilities, even though they are very close together, are inter-connected through a low-speed WAN connection, using T1 or E1 technology, or are not connected at all. It is difficult and often impractical to run fiber-optic cabling from building to building. When this is the case, the MRV TereScope™ line of Free-Space Optics (FSO) products provides a quick and easy solution for delivering huge bandwidth quickly, at very attractive prices, between buildings. With only line-of-site as a requirement, FSO technology creates a high-speed network interconnect (up to Gigabit Ethernet speeds), making two or more facilities act as a single large network.
