Ultra-Low Latency Optical Network Solutions:
MRV Delivers!

Time is money

The effects of network latency vary from application to application. For example a delay of 100 milliseconds will not impact a conversation on a VoIP line, and delays in interactive gaming applications should be kept between 100 and 1000 milliseconds to avoid any negative effect.

When designing networks for Wall Street, however, some trading applications are sensitive to delays of 1.0 millisecond or even microseconds! Estimates done by the TABB Group have indicated that a 5 millisecond delay in transmitting an automatic trade can cost a broker 1% of its flow; which could be worth $4 million in revenues per millisecond. It's no wonder the industry is abuzz with talk of network latency.

Since 1988, MRV has been an innovator in fiber optic communication systems. From the beginning, our designs have been based on providing the best possible network performance at an economical price. Prior to the markets' need for low latency performance, MRV engineered the lowest latency transport platform as the basis of its LambdaDriver and Fiber Driver product offerings.

MRV's Optical Communications Solutions Deliver:

  • Original design criteria aimed at latency minimization
  • Most commonly used modules do not contribute to overall latency
  • Most commonly used TDM modules have the lowest latency in the industry
  • Advanced protocols/procedure in FEC modules for lower latency plus high performance
