Wireless
MRV is the world leader in developing and providing Free Space Optics (FSO or Optical Wireless) systems for both the enterprise and carrier market. As well, MRV has recently introduced a complementary (or stand alone) dual-band RF wireless system.
Free Space Optics transmits data using modulated laser light in a fashion similar to fiber optic communications. This allows ultra-high speed wireless transmission at full wire-line data rates. In addition, the narrow and invisible laser beam makes it the most secure means of wireless communication.
MRV has used expertise in fiber optic transponder technology to produce the most cutting edge Free Space Optics systems in the industry. This includes the industry's first 10 Gig wireless system — the TereScope 10G.
MRV's research on the atmospheric propagation of optical wireless signals has not only lead to innovative designs of the FSO systems, but also has lead to the development of all-weather hybrid FSO/RF system.
MRV offers two wireless technologies which can be used stand-alone, or in the hybrid system:
TereScope
The TereScope™ family of Free-Space Optics (FSO) products provides low-cost, high-speed wireless connectivity for a variety of last-mile applications. Operating at data rates of 1.5 Mbps to 10 Gigabit speeds, TereScope systems are deployable in one day, without requiring right-of-way or government permits for installation, providing communication links in hours instead of weeks or months. MRW-55 — Dual-band WLAN Outdoor Bridge
The MRW55/MRW55M is a dual-band RF system that can provide both an outdoor hotspot/access-point and a bridge in the same unit. It provides connectivity for wireless clients to a LAN as well as connectivity between remote LANs, up to 28km. The MRW55/MRW55M can be configured for both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint bridging configurations that operate in the unlicensed 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. Read more »
